About the event
Poetry, like many things these days, is growing increasingly hybridized. A writer can use any mash-up of at least two techniques or styles, and with a little experimentation, come up with a great hybrid poem. Any combo you can imagine can be tried. (Poetry and recipes, and screenplays, and to-do lists, and obituaries, and on and on.) But one of the first things that a poet needs to do when approaching this type of writing is to free up any constraints on the white page. Know that with hybrids anything can (and should) happen. This workshop will start with some loosening up of our preconceived shackles of what a poem is. From there, we’ll explore a few examples and try writing in a hybridized style.
