Jax Poetry Fest is an annual event presented by Hope at Hand

Every April, in celebration of National Poetry Month, Jax Poetry Fest works to inspire community-based poetry projects and spark a love for language and creative expression in Northeast Florida. Designed to engage the community, the poetry programming of Hope at Hand is a unique arts and culture experience for Jacksonville.

All throughout the month spoken word performances, poetry slams, poetry contests, and a variety of workshops are offered at no cost to the public. Funding from Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville, the City of Jacksonville, The Jim Moran Foundation, and the Cummer Family Foundation help make this possible.

I'm new to poetry and didn't think I would enjoy this as much as I did.  It improved my understanding and appreciation of poetry.  It was also cool learning different poetic styles.
