The Persona Poem as the Racial Other Story
April 16th | 12–1 PM
Have you ever wanted to walk with in the shoes of a different person? Can you be inspired by art and transport your imagination into a face that lives in a painting? What thorny storytelling awaits your pen? We shall dive into the persona poem, wear the jacket of another person or inanimate object. Let's tell a story that we have not experienced. Let us write what we do not know.
In this workshop, we will:
Read and discuss various persona poems and learn from them! Be inspired by them!
Engage One or two writing prompts to get us started in this type of poetic storytelling
Produce a crappy first draft of an eight-line persona poem.
Hear from each other as time allows
