Rap Poetry, featuring Lynn Skapyak Harlin

April 12th | 12–1 PM

Join Lynn for a dynamic poetry workshop that explores the exciting world of Skeltonic Verse! In this workshop, you'll discover the unique qualities of this form, which is characterized by short lines of three to six words that tumble down the page with boundless energy. The rhymes continue as long as the poet feels it is working well and it is often called tumbling verse.

You'll learn about the history and evolution of Skeltonic Verse, and how it has been used by poets throughout the ages to convey humor and energy. Allen Ginsberg used this form in his work titled, "Jumping the Gun on the Sun".

Throughout the workshop, you'll have plenty of opportunities to practice writing your own Skeltonic Verse, experimenting with different techniques and styles. Whether you're an experienced poet or a newcomer to the world of verse, this workshop is the perfect opportunity to explore the limitless potential of Skeltonic Verse and connect with other poetry lovers in a supportive and creative environment.
